It is 2060 and you're the second generation of people entering the dating market in a world where social distancing is the norm – after all, it is the only solution to the ubiquitous infection which started in 2020. Fortunately, the supercomputers of the Department of Marriage are here to help you find your perfect partner from the safety of your own home. During Together Forever programme, a machine learning algorithm will set up a sequence of online relationships for you, of various durations and with a diverse selection of partners. This will give your cortical implant enough data about your personality and preferences -- sometimes things that even you don't know about yourself -- to enable the system to find your Forever Match. They will be the first and only person outside of your immediate family that you will get to ever meet in the flesh – more than that, they will become your permanent life companion. With a 99.5% success rate, Together Forever programme is your best and only chance at true marital bliss.
Ever so slightly awkward romance with a dash of black comedy. We took inspiration from real life and made Hang the DJ even more dystopian by having it take place during social isolation!

The intended tone of the game is mildly absurdist relationship drama. It is a story about attempting to have romantic relationships with a variety of people, some better suited to you than others, about growing as a person and looking for true love, whatever that means. It is not intended to be “misery porn”, though there may be some difficult themes in the character backstories.
Playing on romance is the main theme of the larp, with personal growth and self-discovery being a secondary theme. Don't worry if you have the common concern "what if no-one will want to play romance with me?" : the larp design ensures everyone will get the experience they want.
Both the setting and the design of the larp are queer-friendly -- while enforced monogamy is a theme of the larp, heteronormativity definitely isn't!

Pay what you think the larp is worth, and what you can afford. Minimum donation £10.
The larp will use Discord for realtime video, text and for in-character social networking (in-game "Facebook"). Players will be given setup instructions before the larp and we will host a few optional "office hours" in the weeks before the larp when we can help you test your setup.
Karolina Soltys, David Owen, Patrik Balint.
Each run of the larp will happen on Saturday and Sunday. By default, the timezone will be British Summer Time, i.e. GMT+1, but if the sign-up form shows enough interest, we might run the larp on a more America-friendly schedule letting both European and American players play together (by moving the Sunday core hours a few hours later).
1800-2200 Workshops, play
2200-2300 Optional play for people who want to stay up later ;)
1300-1400 Lunch break
1800-1900 Debrief + after-party begins
Note: this schedule doesn't mean we want you stuck in front of your computer for hours on end that weekend! While there will be a few scheduled group events (around 3h total) when we would like you to be present on video chat, it is always fine to take breaks, and we actively encourage you to try out other forms of communication as well: e.g. talking with your partner on voice chat while making lunch, scrolling through and commenting on our "Facebook" while drinking tea, or texting your sibling as you're taking a walk.
On the other hand, the breaks aren't enforced, meaning that if you want, you could stay in character from the start of the larp (around 1900 on Saturday) until the end (1800 on Sunday). You can express this preference in your sign-up form and we will match you in relationships with people who want a similar level of play duration.
The sign-up is currently open and will close on 23:59 British Summer Time (i.e. GMT+1) on Thursday, 10th September. It is not first-come-first-serve. We will then circulate a list of names of all the players who signed up and give you a couple of days to tell us whether there is anyone you wouldn't want to play with. On Sunday, 13th September we will we will choose participants based on how well their preferences and character ideas align with the larp design and inform you whether you got a spot in the larp. We will ask you then to pay the £10 contribution (+ optional donations). You will get your full character sheet 2 weeks before the larp.
